Most of the time the
goal of a website is to generate return traffic and sales. The web
site's content is a major attributing factor when trying to reach
this goal. I have taken the time to list down a few questions that
need to be evaluated.
- Is your website's content interesting to read? Will it keep your
audiences attention? Maybe ad a few facts/examples, funny comments,
personal comments, smaller paragraphs or simpler language.
- Is it informative? Maybe your content needs to get to the point
quicker, not so much selling.
- Is it well layed out? Content also involves images and the whole
design of the site... does the text and graphics work with each
other?
- Is it updated regularly? If you have many visitors each day to
your website... maybe you need a full time website designer. Your
website is your storefront. It SHOULD be continually improving and
always extremely well kept. Maybe start asking for feedback from
visitors on what they think you should include on your website.
- Does it make people want to re-visit your website? Maybe you
should ask people to re-visit or 'bookmark' your website to make it
easier for them to re-visit.
- Does it make it VERY clear how they can order your
product/service?
* Here's an idea... Maybe consider adding a "what's new"
section to your website. This is a web pages which outlines all the
changes you have made to your website with the appropriate dates.
Regular users can then very easily find out what's new on your
website without having to wade through every page.
